Multi-server
Pro and Team. One Wharfbase (the hub) shows the databases of several servers. Each other server runs a small agent, which does what Wharfbase does locally (discovery, connections, queries, backups) and talks to the hub over one outgoing connection.
Adding a server
Section titled “Adding a server”- Settings → Servers → Add server, with a name.
- Copy the
docker-compose.ymlit shows to the other server, and start it:docker compose up -d. It runs the agent and its own socket-guard, and carries a one-time enrollment token. - Within seconds the server is online, and its databases appear with a server badge. Browse, edit, query, import and back them up as if they were local.
The agent only connects out, to the hub’s address, so no port has to be opened on the other server. The hub must be reachable from there at the URL in the compose file (WB_HUB_URL).
Security
Section titled “Security”- Enrollment: the token is single-use and expires. The hub stores only its hash. Agent and hub then prove who they are with keys exchanged at enrollment, so an agent refuses a hub that can’t prove its key.
- Transport: use
https://for the hub. The agent refuses a plainhttp://hub on a public address. On a private network (RFC 1918, CGNAT,.local,.internal,.lan,.home.arpa, single-label names) it allowshttp://with a warning. To force plain HTTP over a public address anyway, setWB_AGENT_ALLOW_INSECURE_HUB=trueon the agent. - Revoking a server (Settings → Servers) cuts it off at once; its databases go from the hub.
- Versions: an agent may lag the hub by one minor version, so you can upgrade the hub first.
When a server goes offline
Section titled “When a server goes offline”If the link drops (the server restarts, the network fails, or the agent stops), the server shows offline within a minute. Its databases stay listed with what the hub knew, and requests to them answer AGENT_OFFLINE. A query that was running ends with that error instead of hanging. The agent reconnects by itself, and everything works again without a new token.
With standby hubs (High availability, Team), agents connect to the load balancer’s address, and reconnect to whichever hub leads.
Community has one server. Pro has 5, Team 25. After a downgrade, the servers over the limit stay listed but offline until the plan grows again.
