What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”Browse tables and views of your schemas, the SQL editor with Explain (DBMS_XPLAN), exports. Read-only scripts run under SET TRANSACTION READ ONLY, with inline PL/SQL refused.
A least-privilege user
Section titled “A least-privilege user”Wharfbase works with any user; give it only what you want it to do.
Read only
Section titled “Read only”CREATE USER wharfbase_ro IDENTIFIED BY "…";GRANT CREATE SESSION TO wharfbase_ro;GRANT READ ON app.customers TO wharfbase_ro; -- per table, or:GRANT READ ANY TABLE TO wharfbase_ro;Read and write
Section titled “Read and write”Grant SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE on the tables instead of READ.
Functions with PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION can write even from a read-only transaction: a user with READ grants only is the hard guarantee.
