Wharfbase works with any user; give it only what you want it to do.

CREATE USER 'wharfbase_ro'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '…';
GRANT SELECT, SHOW VIEW ON app.* TO 'wharfbase_ro'@'%';
CREATE USER 'wharfbase_rw'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '…';
GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, SHOW VIEW ON app.* TO 'wharfbase_rw'@'%';
  • Live consumers: GRANT PROCESS ON *.* TO 'wharfbase_ro'@'%';
  • Backups (mariadb-dump): add TRIGGER on the database, and on MariaDB 11.3 and later SHOW CREATE ROUTINE on the database. Without it, stored procedures are silently left out of the dump.

Checked against MariaDB 11.4, including a dump with and without SHOW CREATE ROUTINE.
