Search & filters

Press / anywhere, or click Search, and type. Slate sends your query to every source at once, keeps the results that are at least 3,000 px wide, and merges them into one feed.

Plain words work best: foggy forest, aurora, brutalist architecture, saturn. Your recent searches are offered as you type, so you can go back to one.

Esc clears the search.

Display ratio in the header narrows the feed to images whose shape matches your screen:

Ratio For
16:9 most monitors, laptops and TVs; presentations
21:9 ultrawide monitors
27:9 super-ultrawide setups
32:9 dual-monitor-wide screens such as the Samsung Odyssey

An image counts as a match when its proportions are close to the ratio, so a wallpaper fills the screen without heavy cropping. The file you download is still the original, at its own size. Clear the ratio to see everything.

Filters opens the advanced filters. Add keywords (ocean, sunrise…): only images whose title, tags or photographer mention every keyword stay in the feed. Combine them with a category, a ratio and a sort.

  • It’s narrower than 3,000 px.
  • It doesn’t match the selected ratio.
  • It doesn’t contain every keyword you added.

Remove the ratio or keywords to widen the feed.
